My Blogs Traffic Stats - Google Analytics

Hey guys I just wanted to show you how badly my blog is doing,and ask what am I doing wrong.

My blog is at: GameByte,
If you look at my feedjit widget down the bottom right hand side and click 'watch in real time' you'll see my recent traffic and it's sources and how rubbish it's been recently.

As you can see from the second picture I use allot of different methods with different success rates but I can't get above the 20 mark.

What am I doing wrong? And is there anything else I can do because even though I've used allot of sources for my traffic, I'll never be able to use all of them at the same time.

Well, your biggest hurdle is that you have no backlinks so I doubt you are placing high in the SERPs. According to what I'm seeing, you only have around 84 backlinks. You need way more then that for the gaming niche. Work on that and traffic will start to come.

How many do you recommend? 1000+?

And how did you find the '84' backlinks figure? I've been looking for that for ages to see how many links my competertors have.

Yes. Maybe 1000+ and use high traffic keywords on your website's meta tag. You shouldn't depend on referral traffic. Having good search engine traffic is definitely required. I am now getting 30% from search engine traffic and 62% from referrals and the rest is direct traffic and other traffic sources.

Im in the top two places in google for 'Top 10 Halo Guns' with me and my digg page, also Im first on the second page for 'Halo Guns' Also im second and third for 'Top Halo Guns'. I didn't even try to get those keywords, I was just keeping to my writing schedule. I don't think submitting to that many social bookmarking sites helps because all I did was submit to digg.

And yesterday was a good day, I got 35 visits compared to my normal 18.

Try moving the blog away from blogspot, I don't know why but I'm more inclined to read something on its own domain. That would also mean rebuiling backlinks to the new domain too though.

well, could create a domain name and then forward it to my blogspot blog and could also cloak the .blogspot bit, But i'll just stick with blogspot for a while, then later I'll just create a new domain with hosting, and put on my blogspot blog links to my new one, I may have to restart link building, but at least I will have had the experience.
