Default Comment Crusade - Blog Tour of Duty

eEver gone on a comment crusade? It's perfect for when you want to work but can't get started on anything big but still want to be productive.

The concept is ridiculously simple all you do is find a blog ANYWHERE and leav a comment then pick someone who has already left a comment and seems interesting; go to their blog and leave a comment. Then repeat the process by finding someone you think is interesting, visit their blog ...

10+ Comments left = Good Work Soldier!
20+ Comments left = Your a trooper!
30+ Comments left = Your a machine!
40+ Comments left = Pat yourself on the back and enjoy a nice rest

I'm doing a crusade right now approaching 10 comments. I think I'm going to be cool with trooper status on this mission.

Ever done it? If not I think you should try!

I regularly read 4-5 blogs but I do comment on random ones from time to time. I usually don't have that much free time on my hands.

Cool and thanks for signing up despite the hurdles .

Mine is more an issue of hand capacity; I'm online all day with arguably decent posture so I try and make most clicks count. That being said I just try and get in the zone and go for it from blog to blog until I hit a dead end or just can't be bothered anymore.

The cool thing about pulling people from comments is YOU KNOW THEY LEAVE COMMENTS. These are people who are comment leavers so the probability of them reciprocating or at least checking you out is higher in my opinion.

Welcome to the community!

I read quite a bit of blogs daily, but I think I'll try to do a comment crusade on some of the smaller ones like you suggested in Plurk. That would get the best response, I think.

I've never heard it called a crusade but I've done "blog hopping" quite often in the past. It's a great way to find new blogs.

I leave comments only when I feel I have somrthing to say on the topic of the post. I know it helps the author of the blog I visit. How does it helps my blog unless others too follow the same practice ? Or, do you mean I should look for blogs where I can post my blog URL too so that I get some visitors, who may click on my link?
Your guidance on the question will be higly appreciated.

The point of it is to increase awareness of your blog, make new friends and hopefully get some more comments.

By going through the comments of people who have left comments you KNOW that they are the types who leave comments. So leave a nice comment relevant to the post and you will at the very least get a new set of eyeballs to your blog. (the owner)

Also long term the more comments you make the more random click through's you'll get as well. The primary reason is to meet new people in the blogosphere who you already know are the types that also participate on other peoples blogs.

Hope that makes sense

Example; I went on a blog comment crusade today; of the comments I left I noticed some signed up for the forum and one of the people I met I talked to on gmail for a while and he was really cool. It's just a way of meeting new people and increasing your exposure when you can't get going on your work but don't want to just click around aimlessly.

I comment somewhat regularly when I find interesting posts, but I've never really done something like this, though. Could be a fun activity for days when I'm having trouble getting started.

Nope never done that. Maybe some time in the future. I just comment on about 5-10 blogs I read regularly... Just can't find the time to comment more...

I blog hop and comment almost daily. I try to hit all the blogs on my blogrolls on my 3 blogs every day (I don't always do it, but I try) then I hit my Feed Reader and break it up so I do maybe half one day, half the next.

I either comment back new commenters or at least reply on my blog or thru email. IMHO it's common courtesy. I think this is one of the best ways to get traffic and keep it.
