Default Pingoat - Dead or alive?

Pingoat.com used to be the best pinging service out there, in my opinion, but the last few months it's been up not any more than a couple times whenever I've gone to do a manual ping for something special. Just this message:
"We're currently doing system maintenance. Come back later."
How much maintenance can possibly be required, I wonder?
So, anyone happen to know what the deal is with Pingoat?

I haven't visited that site in a while but I just got the down for maintenance message. Doesn't look good.

If anyone knows a contact email I'd definite inquire if they were trying to sell or if they just needed some server capacity; either way I'd be interested in talking to them.

I'd forgotten all about that site until you just mentioned it. Maybe they're doing a major update or something and it's just taking a while.

Used to be Kailash Nadh... he built it and ran it for donkeys' years, anyway. Now wondering if he might have sold it to someone who's not taking care to feed it right - or maybe just moved on to other things, when he finished his degree... worth checking out?

No idea but if it's just rotting I'd love to buy it at liquidation pricing and nurse the goat back to life. (With a huge banner for bloggeries ontop)

I use Pingomatic instead. It's not as good Pingoat (doesn't feature as many services) but it gets the job done.

Yes, Pingomatic is the clear second choice, I agree.
Of course Wordpress and some other platforms can be set to ping anyone you want, but I always liked Pingoat for special occasions and non-blog feeds. Just a shame to see it go.
