I'd say making it easy to comment on blogs also helps out a ton (that being said I don't have any comments yet) but I only started yesterday so what would I know!

Your content could be horrible but if you are marketing your site properly, you will always have traffic coming to your site.

Haven't tried #2 yet but really planning to put one. I've heard about it a lot, it is good also for getting followers not just traffic.
