Default Domain Name: Hyphen or No? 1 better than 3-4?

I have read places and heard people mention that it is always better to get a domain without a hyphen if you can help it.

example: blah-blah.com or blahblah.com

The domain I was to register is 2 words, but without hyphen is already taken and doesn't contain any website of course

The least amount of hyphens better than 3 or 4?

What is the concensus here on this topic? Do you think you can get same SE traffic with a hyphen? Does it affect SEO as far as the domain name goes?

I want to start another blog regarding a topic that I am good at writing about (based on past search engine rankings), but I really want to nail a domain name to further my success.

Any thoughts?

One hyphen is fine, but never more than two.

Alright, that lets up the stress of getting the right domain a little. Thanks.

One of my favorite domains that I own has two hyphens. I just wish I had a reason to use it.

Good luck

Hyphens are great!

It makes it easier to read now and if it's for affiliate marketing / something that you mainly just want Search Engine traffic then all the better.

I almost regged one in 2001 but someone was all against it. Then again everyone was scared of .org back then as well.

Things are changing and in 5 years 1,2,3 hyphens will be run of the mill and bookmarking / engines will be so good most people will probably never type the URL in once. What's easier to read from a search result:

Bloggeries-Blog-Forum.com
bloggeriesblogforum.com

yaya I made it easier with the caps on the top but put that to longer examples...

Anyways I'm pro Hyphen; don't discriminate

I like hyphens because they are easier to read. I also read somewhere that with hyphens, the big G has a better idea of what your keywords are. (Assuming you have keywords in your domain name.) One of my domains has a hyphen and I don't see that it is penalized at all for it.

Side note: My 200th post and it isn't even the spammy one I was planning on.
Only 800 to go!
