Hi, We are a new blog that offers discounts on Las Vegas. In order to get more affiliate links our Alexa ranking needs to be 750,000 (as told by the one of the affiliate programs we really would like). In an effort to try to increase this ranking we decided to do a Stumbleupon.com campaign. We have tripled our usual hits and now checking our ranking it has actually gone up 50,000 instead of down like we wanted. Our ad campaign is still going and I would like to know if this is hurting us instead of helping us? Should we stop? Thanks so much for any advice. A.J. Just keep it up. Any type of campaign is a good one if you see results. Alexa is sort of weird like that, but give it time to adjust to the new traffic on your site and it should go down to where you want/need it. Anyone else care to correct me if I am wrong? |

Keep in mind that stumbleupon is like a race, if you're geting more traffic but so are others then you won't see a big difference.

and don't count on them sticking around long. Once the initial stumble craze is over 99% won't be back to your site anyways.

Doing a campaign from SU is a good way, but there are some things that need to be taken care of. There is evidence of sites getting banned from SU who misuse it. If you stumble your own pages continuously , your blog or web site may be banned on SU. SU has the power to get your adsense account closed.

Thanks so much for posting about Stumbleupon. I never knew that. We are almost done with our SU Campaign and although we did get the targeted number of hits, I will not be doing another campaign. I have stumbled pages before and I never tend to stay on them very long. I just think there is better ways to get targeted traffic out there. Live and learn. A.J. I only do the stumble thing once as it can be counter productive if you keep submitting the same site.
