Default Do you include Directory Submission when Promoting a New Blog?

Just curious if anyone here submits their new blogs to directories when they want to get a promotional campaign going. I believe it's a very important part of any good SEO campaign and recommend it.

FWIW a few GOOD directory submissions far outweight hundreds of free. Blog directories such as mine are a great option however if you want other good high quality general directories I made a section under my Web Directory Promotion. Everyone on that list is a trustworthy owner so feel free to submit to them if you wish. I give you my personal guarantee you'll get what you paid for .

When I started my blog, I submited to a bunch of directories, not knowing exactly what I was doing. Apparently, it paid off

I submit to directories. It helps with SEO. I don't seem to get any traffic from these directories though.

I very rarely get traffic from the directories I submit to as well; occasionally I do see some in the referrer stats but it's mainly for SEO. I'll only submit to a directory that has deeplinks though. (That's additional links besides the main domain).

I just check the soliciations and announcements section of the digital point forums. There, new directories post offers for free submission. Normally, I just try to submit my blog to a few of the better offers every day. Over time, this will add up to many back links.

I know what you are saying; I used to do the same. I'm realizing more and more # of backlinks is a smaller much smaller factor then quality of backlinks. I'm PR6 but just recently I submitted to as many permanent quality directories as possible including Alive Directory. Something I had wanted to do for a while. If doing dir submission maybe 10-20 free ones max and then I'd go 5-10 good quality ones that are permanent, reasonably priced and offer backlinks.

Directories help too in increasing your blog's traffic. But some of this directories are not for free. It's either you pay or you trade links. In that case, you'll blog will be full of so many widgets. That's not very pleasant.

Default Few Quality Paid Blog Directories better than Hundreds of Free

Agreed, and a few quality paid directories will have a larger effect on your site then numerous free ones of poor quality. I just kind of went on a ramble regarding directory submission so you can read that thread here.

For widgets I'd recommend putting them in the footer or bottom right of sidebar.

Submitting to quality directories is the best way you can possibly develop inbound links for a new site. Instead of wasting your time on many free ones you are much better going with a few that will give you the most benefit.
