Yeah, I do agree. Directories DO help you get ranked, but they can also help you get deranked. One e-commerce site through work after pushing the links on directories managed to increase from 1 sale a month to 1 sale a day. It's google ranking has increased incredibly.

It does take time, but directories are useful. But you need to look out for the right ones

Agreed and I think the same is true for any industry.

Some SEO's are snake oil salesmen in the Quick Buck Crew. Others have a reputation / trust and produce.
