 Your Marketing Bloopers and Lessons Learned
Some of you have been advertising/marketing for years and others are just getting started. What are some things you did in the beginning that you really shouldn't have or that failed for you? What would you tell the beginner advertiser to avoid, etc?

Beginner mistakes - the very first contest I held, I emailed all the "A-Listers" in my niche - Shoemoney, John Chow, John Cow etc. Just a generic email, asking for sponsored prizes - I felt pretty embarrassed about that after a few days. None of them replied except for John Cow, who sponsored an ad slot. Pretty cool, hey?

I would say don't go for free hosting. Own everything right from the start.
