Hey,

I understand the social media exchanges, but are we allowed to give each other our usernames and stuff? Let's say if I wanted you all to add me on Sphinn, SU, etc?

Just curious so I don't get banned.

I mean, it's understandable cause they want to cover their own asses but my question was more on exchanging usernames of social bookmarking sites.

Don't think there will be a problem with swapping friends on social networks, that is the whole point of them. However, actively campaigning to exchange Diggs and Stumbles and thus manipulate the network is against their TOS. Buy front page, it's easier

It's because it's ridiculously easy to get found out and blanket banned. They're easy to spot and it goes completely against what made social media brilliant.

It's also pointless: the way in which social media such as stumble upon works is similar to google pagerank. Strong stumblers (people who like a wide variety of things and contribute loads) with give more traffic than weak stumblers. Have one strong stumbler stumble your post can add easily 2,000-3,000 hits. 100 weak stumblers couldn't add that.

Exchanging user names and contacts artificially inflates a persons reputation at that given network and is no different than exchanging stumbles or diggs.

These social networks have mod's that crawl the internet looking for these types of activities, they then go and red flag each domain they find, and bloggeries will not be a part of it.

Plus these activities has absolutely nothing to do with blogging.
