Spottt: Free Link Exchange

This is the most recent (was launched on 12th Feb) link exchange network to be launched by the Adbrite team.

Basically the network is a sleeker link exchange program.

Spottt is all about sharing traffic with similar sites at no cost.

For you to participate for free traffic, you will need to add the Spottt banner (125*125) on your webpage and for every 2 ad impression that you serve (every 2 time your page with the ad is loaded in the web browser), your ad will be shown once on some site within the network.

So it works out to be a 2:1 ratio.

As quoted from TechCrunch:

That leaves Spottt with 50% of the ad inventory for itself. For the first year they’ll just place their own ads on sites. After a year they’ll add the extra inventory to Adbrite and let advertisers purchase it.

So for those of you who do not have much of an advertising budget, this could well be the coolest thing.

I personally would be using them on all my sites that I don’t advertiser but would like to improve my visitors count for higher CTR (Click Through Rate), and also will definitely try them on my bigger sites.

Now don’t think that this is another EntreCard sorts. (I will review EntreCard a little later)

This traffic will be better converting as this will be real traffic that could potentially convert into a sale or provoke content attention.

As people do not have an incentive for clicking ads,the traffic will be highly relevant and equivalent of any advertising campaign you could be running.

Just a few pointers here:

1. No adult sites are allowed in the network

2. You can just place one Spottt widget at a time

3. You have to place the ad above the fold (the ad should be visible without downward scrolling)

4. You get real time stats once you have added their code

Personally it would be good for sites looking for some initial exposure..

I have to too many of them and actually buying ad space for all of them is not in the cards.

So if someone clicks the conversion can be high

I possibility cannot sell a product if the person is intentionally clicking my ads

Both system have their pros and cons and I guess people should not compare the too.

Why not? If some of those initial Entrecard visitors hadn't had incentive to click my banner they may never have come to my site and joined as readers.

Spottt doesn't have a network behind that will propel it forward. That's my main point.

Anything can be compared, especially when they're so close in form and function.

Ya that is a point I agree, EC has been especially helpful in this aspect.

Anything can be compared, especially when they're so close in form and function.

May be, but I still think that these two are quite different.
Anyways these two are not running in competition but instead complimenting each other for generating traffic.

One can use both without a conflict.

EC is already working for me in terms of blog exposure, I guess I will have to monitor my Spott and see how it goes.

So for me its 5/5 as for as EC is concerned and a 3.5/5 for Spott for the few clicks I have already got.

It could be just me but I think that Spottt will work very well on most of my sites.

1. It's not blog exclusive
2. I can work around for credits effortlessly (I agree that one needs to put time on his sites, but I possibly cannot image doing an EC networking for all my sites)

I hope it does work for you. I'm just not sold on it yet. I got rid of BlogRush due to its poor performance, but I like the idea of Spottt. I just haven't seen results from it yet. Maybe it's my fault too. I am the one designing my banner.

I have been enjoying the benefits of Spottt on some of my newer sites, great free way to get some initial traffic.
