Default Project Wonderful - Watch Campaign Bids Carefully!

Alright I love Project Wonderful so let's get that out of the way.

Did my first campaign last night and woke up to a good surprise but bad... Lot's of people are realizing that a sitewide on their site is essentially worth less then 10 cents. So what they're doing is making a box or banner on EACH INDIVIDUAL PAGE... Manual marketers won't notice but if you're doing a campaign like me with over 189 bids going at a time... It's easy to get taken advantage of.

It's only say ~5 cents a day but still you can get a sitewide for that OR one random page.

Nothing against these guys but just something to watch when doing campaigns....

Ouch I didnt see people doing this on single pages. Good for a page that gets a lot of traffic I guess though, but I can see the problem

The owner emailed me and didn't realize actually. I'm sure though that it will occur often though regardless of intent. He agreed a sitewide makes more sense and is typically the norm. Shouldn't be a huge problem for manually but when running campaign automatically you have to be weary. I put a minimum of 500 page views a day though to avoid those people who have a min limit with no justification for it.

Nor am I typically however when something is new like this sometimes I like making a big splash all at once over a gradual slide in.

I think this would work well almost like a PPC just put affiliate links on sites you think should have them could work. I'm seeing people do that more and more though.

I think Project Wonderful is a long term prospect. I started at nothing, then I went to 1 cent, now 2 cents, then 3 cents. I think over a years time period, you will eventually get up to 50 cents, but it won't happen in one night. The goal is to get as many possible users into your network. This takes time and patience.

Perhaps we should suggest to project wonderful to add that piece of search criteria to the "advanced" section of their campaign setup/search tool. Check the box to only select ads that appear sitewide. Of course the PW robot would probably need some more programming to detect sitewide vs. page specific ads to ensure people aren't mis-representing their ad boxes.
