Have You Googled your name today?

Its always fascinating to see if you're famous (by Google standards). I Googled my name and found out that not only am I one of Australia's leading photographers, but I'm also a 'concerned citizen' in Chicago and a Research Physicist.

Actually lil ol' me (Peter Fisher) is a webmaster and author and I am astonished to see that today I have two entries on the first page of Google's results! At number 4, I appear as an expert author for EzineArticles and again at number 10 as a Career Consultant (which I am)

Vanity maybe; but it also shows the power of writing and submitting articles to promote your website or blog.

Googled my full real name? Nah, I don't use it online, so there's not going to be much there anyway...and I have a fairly common name, too, (whether each name on its own or my full name together), so unless I did something absolutely amazing, then it'll never be there. And I mean *amazing* because the first result for my name (just checked) is an armless motivational speaker...eek!

As for Quirky Jessi, though, I think I'm the only one, hehe. When I search for it as two works or one either way, I think pretty much all of the results on the first few pages are me or references to me. I like looking from time to time because sometimes I'll notice a site that's listed me that I didn't know about before. It's interesting indeed.

I found if I add NZ (New Zealand) to my name Google displays my main web site as the first listing. I found it's valuable if I use popular NZ names (of cities, fish, etc) when I sign up to forums, web sites, auctions, etc, then a Google search sometimes display them and my blog/web sites, within the first 3 listings...

Heh, I always do vanity searches of my name when I'm bored. I'm happy to say that when you Google Amy Cottrell, I'm the Amy in 8 out of those first 10 results.

Mine comes up as a guy that own a surf board shop, a street actor and a comic strip writer which I am neither.

A search for me and my wife together though does come up #1 in Google.

That's because we own a domain by the same name.

Since I share a name with a former actor who may or may not have (probably ) murdered his wife, I'm not likely to ever find my actual self in Google unless I get excessively specific.
