Ping The World With Your New Wordpress Posts

In Wordpress under Options and then Writing you will see a section called Update Services. This is an area that you can set up websites to receive pings when you post a new article. I'm sure that there must be some benefit of announcing to other webpages when you create a new post.

By default there is only 1 set up, pingomatic. I found a list online with many others and I have them added to my blog.

Here's the list and you can do the same. I see hits coming in from some of them so it must be working.

I could be wrong, but if you're feed is burned with FeedBurner, doesn't it cover all your pinging needs?

Feedburner is so that People can sign up for your feeds no matter what RSS reader that they use. That way they can view your new posts from their home page etc.

Pinging is sending a heads up to other Sites that you just created a new post.

Some of them automatically incorporate those posts into pages within their sites.

I have seen some pages like "all pings today" etc with my posts in them from the sites in my ping list. I assume the extra back links can never hurt, well of course unless they are from a #%& site

After doing a little more research I see that Feedburner does have a similar service called PingShot that they talk about here: Burning Questions • PingShot: Speedy Content Distribution for Everybody

I don't know if all the sites from my list are on theirs though.

If anybody has any information to add, I'm all ears.

I use Pingoat.com to ping all the major site, than using this method !
Please advice me If I am wrong.

Pinoat.com lists the ping sites below, you could use them if you feel that their list is extensive enough.

Some of the ones there may prove to be more useful, the basics are the same send a ping to many sites every time you post.

I did not do a test but it is easy enough for me to paste my ping lists into a new blog. I may try yours out and see what it gets me.
