The colours are really impotant. DigitalPoint doesn't look as nice and welcoming as BLoggereis, which is why I don't post there as often.

Default Re: Optimal Blog Colors / Colours

Well, based on Paul's three links (the first one didn't work but the last two did), I'm going to keep my blue theme as that colour "Suggests quality, trustworthiness, success, seriousness, calmness."

I was thinking brown might be more appropriate for a renovations blog, as I think of brown being the colour of wood and "...would provide your visitors with a feeling of stableness and strength. Emotions like this will help your visitors to associate your site with solidity and confidence" and is "...is associated with earth, nature, tribal, primitive, simplicity".

However, that would be too easy and some competitive sites would likely already have that colour so blue would stand out from the renovation crowd I would think.

Again, Paul, thank's very much!

I have always found that too much white on the page makes for sore eyes. Other than that I'd say make the colors match your writing style. I seem to find that many females use pale green layouts, and that is fine. It usually looks very nice, but it can sometimes make the blog appear a little earthy and feminine and sometimes that doesn't seem to be the goal of the writing.
