Okay so we all know that everyone has a cell phone, and most of us have texting. Have you ever gotten a text message that you didn't read? Most likely not. That's the idea behind text marketing - people WILL read your messages, and what's more, most will be read minutes after being sent! This can do wonders for your blog as far as getting instant traffic, loyal readers, and overall improved readership on your blog. Take a cooking blog for example: The blogger can send out weekly text message cooking tips, recipe ideas, plus announce when a new blog post is made! People are sure to act on these text messages right away, but if they don't, they will never lose the text message so your message will always be right there in front of them in their inbox. Integrate your text message offering into any current ads, add a sign up form onto your blog, and put it in all your posts. Build your list of people who WANT to receive text messages from you! I highly recommend this for any blog owner. Do your own research and see what it can do for you! Contact me for any information and to try it for free for 30 days.

The person using texting to promote the blog doesn't make any money from people opting-in, receiving texts, etc. as there are no ads in the text messages. Readers are charged whatever their carrier would charge them for a regular text message. If someone has unlimited texting, then the text falls into that criteria. Conversely, if someone is doing pay-as-you-go, they will be charged for receiving your text. The typical way to clarify this is to say "Standard messaging rates apply."

Wow. I hate spam text messages. A blog being texted to my phone would seem like spam to me. I can't imagine anyone wanting to do this.

You can't hate a text message if you willingly opted in to receive it.

Yea, I have to agree with Melody on this one. Informing readers of blog updates via text probably isn't the best idea, even if readers willingly sign up. Constant texts from any organization can get annoying, and I am willing to bet that readers who sign up for text updates would regret their decision rather quickly, especially if the blog posts daily...

I would never dream of signing up for text messages like this. I can't imagine why anyone would.

Getting spam text messages could get very annoying very quickly. I get a few from an off-license occasionally and I ignore the vast majority of them
