How do you market / promote a new blog?

I just started a travel blog and I really do hope I wouldn't be lazy enough to post articles consistently.

So how do you promote a new blog? Should I put more articles first and then promote to the world? Or focus first on getting followers then write more articles after?

Focus first on content. If your blog doesn't have plenty of high-quality content, regularly updated, why should anyone follow it? Or link to it? There's no point in putting a lot of effort into getting someone to look at your blog if they're going to be unimpressed when they look.

One thing I do is use Easyhits4u, You essentially just generate random traffic to your blog but I find it helps with things like your Alexa rating and google.

Also you will pick up a few readers using a traffic exchange, providing your start page is interesting.

Put a lot efforts to build some quality contents... :-) That will really work well for your blog's growth.

To market your blog for gaining new readers, you can do the following important things:
1. Guest Blogging
2. Commenting on other blogs
3. Tweet the Killer posts to twitter.

Forums are a great way to get traffic to your blog, but don't just spam random ones. Try to find forums that are relevant to your blog.

Exactly. You need to have enough contents to keep visitors stay on your blog. And if you're confident with your writing, then after your blog indexed by search engine, you can use some strategies(SEO, SMO, etc) to generate traffic.

There are some sites that help your blog get noticed. One is the Self Promotion site. It helps you with your sites and blogs.

I agree with the other posters though. Try to post at least 2 times a week and get some postings done for at least 3 months before you actively promote. Get to know some other bloggers in your niche and help them with comments. Many will comment back. Join some blog directories if you wish too. You can learn a lot right here at Bloggeries too.

i usually post on social media sites, ping, forum posting and do comment with related niche blog
