Almost every activity on the Internet has been studied, measured and analyzed. I mention this because I have seen quite a few posts on here devoted to Twitter, Facebook, Blog Posting, Email, Etc.... I have seen people talking about being most effective, how to optimize the content and cross-market, what I have not seen is how to maximize your efforts for maximum exposure.
A very simple concept but a very effective one is to time your efforts. Here are a few examples and make sure to take into account time zones and if your stuff is regional, national or international, but these will give you a point of reference.
- Best time to Tweet is 9:00AM, it is the time when the most people are checking there twitter streams and interacting
- Best time to eMail is 10AM-11AM and 2PM-4PM. There are several factors that impact these times, most are work related, more people check email during the day than at night and for work of course, from 9AM ill 10AM people are just trying to empty their in-boxes of the trash from over the night, and you don't want yours given a cursory glance and then deleted right?!? 11Am to 2AM is when most people are either at lunch or thinking about lunch and not really paying attention to their inbox or whats in there. After 4AM people are trying to close out projects and get to stopping points to call it a day so again their inbox becomes secondary.
- Best time to post a link to Facebooks is in the evenings. More people are comfortable looking at fb and using links while not at work and after getting dinner done. So post your links later in the evening and keep them high on your/their walls at the most opportune time.
These are just a few examples and you can easily do your own research on the subject but my point is that if you are going to be doing the effort to market your blog, then do the research so your efforts are maximized for greatest success.
