If you want people to link you:



1. have amazing content that's interesting, unusual and visually appealing.

2. have exciting marketing materials and incentives to set the mood.

3. list top people, services, or whatever your passion is.

4. include a call to action at the end of the post asking people to link to you if they like your blog

5. use humor, be upbeat, positive and interesting.

You have to have backlinks in order for your site to rank well. Google puts a lot of weight into whether or not your site has any links pointing back to it. You can get backlinks from forums (like this one) or through blog commenting, or guest posting, or by purchasing them (not recommended).

I'm really glad that I haven't missed out any of it from the list. Though I haven't done all these regularly but at least I've come to be aware and knowledgeable about it.
