Default Content is King....yes we know

If I could receive $1 for every time someone posts about content being king, I'd be as rich as Steve Jobs.
Yes content is king...but that is not the only attribute to get people to your website/blog?
If you only aim to write good content, the reward you will receive is 'The world’s best kept secret'.
Good content is something that is required; however there are so many aspects that revolve around just good content, such as getting people there.

Example: Imagine having a business down a lane which sold apple laptops for $10 (unrealistic, I know) but they did not place any signs at the entrance of the lane. Result? No one knows about it, therefore no one experiences this insane deal!

Attributes that I rate highly:

Click me for $10 - When marketing your website/blog, can you honestly say that in reading back your use of words or marketing campaign, you would click it? So many people are blind and just think yes I would, but maybe YOU would? But you are not marketing to yourself. The idea of marketing is to think about the consumers/customers and how they perceive it. A good way to help you decide on your choice of words would be to explain your business in 5 words or less, or the product you are selling.

Forum - "Just joined, now to spam my link and put posts like ‘nice post’." - I have seen this method of marketing used throughout so many forums, but I do not think some people grasp the idea of 'become active'. Become active means become a part of that community, put informative content on your posts and help other people out by answering. Think of it as a face to face discussion...when would you ever say to someone, "nice idea/post/business" after they have just asked for a specific answer? It would be too awkward- So get involved and connect with other forum users.

Twitter - Twitter has gathered so many varied opinions about itself (yes, I referred to twitter as a human- low point.). Some guru’s claim that twitter is so insanely awesome that they want to explode if people aren't using it, where as others are against it. I believe that Twitter is good depending on your market sector. If the sector your in isn't interested in twitter, don't get involved as you'll waste your time. If it is, brilliant, just remember that if you are marketing to people through twitter, don't make it so obvious you are trying to sell to them. Make followers want to be involved and explore what you have to offer.

Note to self: In saying all this, maybe I should start to incorporate these ideas into my own blog.
