Might as well do it now so people know that you want to monetize your blog. Imagine the shock your readers will get when you suddenly start to monetize your blog 6 months, 1 year or any time later from now.

I've set my blog up and stuck ads on it from the start, but I haven't seen much income yet.

I had a kinda a news aggregator site called olympicnewslondon.co.uk and it got upto 300 uniques in one month. One particular article would get 30-40 hits alone. In saying that i think i earnt a total of £10 across the 6 months before i lost interest. It was getting legit search engine traffic for various keywords and probably about 1 click per month on adds. However anything with Olympic in it you have to get approval from the London Olympic committee of which helped me lose interest even quicker. |

| I think that two months is much too early to expect many readers, and certainly too early to expect to make money. Growing a blog can take years. (And - you all knew I would say this, right? - there's no assurance that a blog will ever make money.)

Took me 6 - 12 months and there were plenty of thoughts of giving up but stick with it. It also depends if you want to use PPC to try and earn immediate $$'s or, like myself, I just worked on SEO to get visitors to my sites.

2 mos is fairly short. Try posting updates and getting new readers to your site first before you think about money.

You definitely need to monetize right away with affiliate programs (they perform best on many blogs) and drive traffic through guest posting and blog hopping. Money will come if you seek it consistently, but it takes time. Keep with it for a year and a half to 2 years and work on getting rss by email subscribers.

Honestly, I don't think it is worth it to put ads on most blogs. I can't even imagine what kind of traffic numbers you would have to have to make a wage you could live off of (at least $70k). If you can make a $10 a month with ads, you've made enough to buy a meal out, but the cost has been much higher - You've cluttered your content with ads. I realize that some people will beat the odds and have some fabulous famous blog, and earn a lot of money. However, I think the odds of that are sooo tiny. Most people will never get rich blogging. And if you ask me, the blogs that become hit blogs, are usually started by people with a passion for a topic, and not people who go into it trying to get wealthy blogging.

| You are right, but only because the ones in it for money give up because the money takes time to make. The people with only a passion do not have that obstacle and thus stay with blogging for the long term.
