Set Yourself Apart From Other Blogs

I learned this the hard way. Back when I first started blogging, I started two different blogs. One was strictly business related and the other was based on my love of cooking. Since I have a passion for food, it was easy for me to come up with ideas for posts and it was easy to share my enthusiasm. On the other hand, my "business" blog (which was related to job outsourcing.....boring) was a huge chore to come up with content. And guess which one got astronomical amounts of traffic? The food blog! I never once had to worry about getting traffic for that blog because it was a magnet for foodies. The content was excellent, and it was easy for me to find followers.

It's very difficult to mine enthusiasm. If you share your enthusiasm on a topic because you love it you've already done two thirds of the job. That's why it has worked for you, I think.

Yes! And enthusiasm breeds creativity because if you are really passionate about your niche than you LOVE always learning new things (and sharing them!)

I couldn't agree more with this post! I came up with a few ideas for my first blog and really put time in thinking about which route was the best to take. After all of my thinking, I realized that going with what interested me the most would be the best, because I would enjoy writing about it the most. Excellent read.

I agree with this post. blogging about something you're passionate about just makes it easier than blogging because you have to.

That's awesome man! I'm in a position where I've kind of merged the two (passion and expertise), but it was much more difficult starting out. My challenge was to let more of "me" come out, and stop trying to write like I was someone else. Once I was able to do that, the writing process is immensely easier.

Its great to blog about something you love, but Im really worried, cause there are so many for example food blogs..
