Default Where does your blog traffic come from?

For the Blog "Stop Having a Boring Life" in my sig.

50% from direct "no link" type in traffic.
32% from search engines, mainly google and bing
08% from social media / site referrals.

How about yourself?

Having high direct is great but so is social media. Need to work on that.

Search engine goes without saying because you could drop off the face of the earth and you still have new people discovering your content organically. In my mind that is priceless.

Default Re: Where does your blog traffic come from?

Here's what my analytics say:

Google organic 50.18%
Direct (none) 18.59%
Twitter 5.43%
Google.com referral 5.35%

Though my highest quality traffic is from twitter - Those are the people who really read the site, and leave comments. I'd say that 90% of comments come from people who have a twitter profile. And it's interesting, I went to a social media, "Tweet up" and I was told that people who tweet are most likely to be "noisy" people - Have blogs, comments, tweet. etc... The average twitter person spends over four minutes on my blog!

Default Re: Where does your blog traffic come from?

Hmm. In the last month, my perfume blog got traffic from:

Blogs in my niche: 34% (This is also the highest quality traffic, in terms of pages/visit.)
Feedburner: 21%
Google: 21%
Direct: 8%
Blogger: 7% (The "next blog" thing, and this has a surprising number of pages/visit.)
The rest is miscellaneous: Yahoo, Bing, Google in other countries, various forums.

However, slightly over half of the Google traffic consists of searches clearly looking for me, like "chickenfreak perfume", which really seems like "direct", so I'd reshuffle it to be:

Niche Referrals: 34%
Feedburner: 21%
Direct: 19%
Google: 10%
Blogger: 7%
Miscellaneous: 7%

When I was using Twitter, I got a little bit of traffic from Twitter. And when we start approaching Christmas, I'll get more search engine traffic, though most of it will bounce.
