Wondering... are you guys using any blog directory and if so, which ones worked best for you? I've found a plethora but suspect that only a very few work. I tried Technorati a while back but that system is just not working for me. I've found BlogFrog and Blog Catalog... But since thousands of blogs are already listed, do you get anything more than a back-link with those? Thank you.

It always seems that word of mouth and advertising on communities (such as this) is always more effective than the directories. Just my opinion. But when a link comes from a real person with a little bit of an explanation (And possibly a recommendation) the link always seems to get more clicks.

I agree with Jaded. In fact most of my traffic is from referral links. I get very little from the other sources (search engines, blog directories, forums, etc...)

I actually get about 50% of my traffic through search engines on many of my websites, but the best traffic is indeed through nice links. I guess that would be even more true for a Blog. 8-) Thank you for your time!

Of all the different types of directories I have always found that blog directories are one of the most useful. There are some that have useful lists of blogs that can help researches look for a blog on a particular subject. I find it works best for a niche or regional blog.

For me the only use would be to be able to get to some links for other blogs, since I find it harder each day to catch some good content blogs. Otherwise, I think they're time is long gone. Had 2 directories years ago, but I don't rely on them anymore and don't expect others to do either.

Referral links offer better credibility; this is probably why we get more traffic this way. Still, blog directories are good tools if you use them right and don't overuse them.

I think blog directories are useful because without them I wouldn't even find interesting blogs. So they're pretty useful. And now I'm hoping that someone would find my blog through them.
