Default Personality Driven Blogs

Hey,

Do you blog anonymous or have a photo of yourself...

If you have a photo, why not several?

Curious how much "personality" plays in peoples perceptions and the retention of readers regarding a blog.

I have a photo in Stop Having a Boring Life

That's it, what is your presence and thoughts on the matter?

More of this 'expert' junk - you are told that you have to have an about you page with a photo in order for your audience to connect. I disagree about the photo, but think the about page is somewhat important.

For the most part I blog anonymously, choosing instead to put my photo on forums where I am more likely to participate. As far as personality, I think its very important. If you have no personality, unfortunately that is going to show through in your blogging. I have to be careful at times because I come across as a hammer. Then I have to be careful at other times to not be come too playful.

Experience plays a lot into as well. I am a bit cautious because of a bad internet experience, hence my selective use of photos and a lot of personal detail.

I'd say that the photo and the personality don't necessarily have anything to do with each other. The nice tidy formal headshot of a the blogger tells me very little; the occasional silly snapshot of the blogger experiencing their real life can be nice. But I think it's just one of a bunch of different kinds of content that can express the blogger's personality.

Hi Rob - No, I don't have a photo of myself on my blog in an obvious spot but I've snuck a few pics of me in the content here and there.

Yet, despite that, my blog is very personality driven. My blog is named after me, and I've managed to create a blog where I am a real character.

I think marketing experts call this 'personal branding'. I don't want to say that I am a personal brand, but each and every one of us have a chance to step into the spot light with our blog.

Hey, well, I didn't say that head shots were _bad_. I just think that you show lots of personality with your words, instead.

I believe it depends on the flavor and topic of the blog. If you're counting on readers to connect and trust in you, YOU have to have a starring role
