Hello, I was thinking of using Google AdWords to try and promote my blog a bit, i was wondering if this is a good idea and if anyone else has had any success from using Ad Words or similar services?

Adwords is awful and you will never get your moneys worth. I have tried several campaigns and no results, and I actually know how to do it. I think it's a "make you feel warm and fuzy" answer to advertising your webpage. You are better off trading, buying, or dropping links off at other sites and find other means of promotion and take the natural organic search way all in time. Besides do you know all government networks virtually block all of Google Adwords? Sure not a lot but it's still like 4 million computers that can't view your site and those are the active people. Just some thoughts. I personally love that my competitors are using Adwords!

I recently tried Adwords because I received a $100 promotional code and figured I'd give it a try. After paying to activate my account (guess it wasn't as 'free' of a promotion as I first thought), I set up a short, 5 day campaign. Although my ad DID receive something like 8000 ad impressions, I only received 3 clicks. This cost me $10. Ten dollars for 3 visitors? I'll pass next time. I'd rather spend the ten dollars on some printer paper and hand out my web address on the street |

I have always used Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing and MSN Ad Center for all of my Affiliate Marketing campaigns and have always been wildly successful but I also have a very good PPC education. In terms of promoting a site with it- I would advise against it unless you have a large ad spend budget and a solid ROI strategy. |
