it is important the title tag includes your keywords.

Backlinks are way more important. Thats the way to rank on Google, got no choice but to abide to their rules.

Title is a little misleading. Suggests that backlinks are more important than your content and we all know that's not true. But what he meant I think is off page optimization carries more weight than on page optimization.

problem with that is on page optimization in 2010 is not really about keyword density

WHO tells you that your backlink is important than text? If you use text to mean content, then i will say content is more important. If you don't have content why people will link you. And how you will get backlink?
