Google Adsense Showing Irrelevant Ads

My blog is a humor site and it talks about different products. For instance, I talk about a soap product that's funny therefore google ads shows soap products. Obviously the people reading my blog will not want to buy soap. I search all over the place and still can't find a way to show relevant ads. Does anyone know a way around this?

I would check if their are advertisers for "humor". I suspect that their are none - I can't imagine that their would be. Try spyfu (free) to check for advertisers. Also Google humor (or similar terms), and see if paid ads pop up - I doubt any will. Also check it's "commercial intent" at Microsoft's adCenter Labs.

I mean would sort of ads would you want for "humor" or associated topics? It might be difficult to find any that would be relevant. I mean are their any authority sites/blogs that can offer ideas that would best monetize for humor?

you think the lack of a suitable link to soap is a problem, i've a post called to to porn or not to porn ... the ads are amazing - part of the giggle i think !!
p.s. the post is fiction but you'd be amazed at the reactions i've had

Well at this rate looks like I am not going to make anything for google adsense. No I don't want to advertise Terminix or shopping carts...

Try putting more on the blog about what your blog is about, either on the description portion, the headers, or above or below your posting. You will then have more words for Google to focus on. Just a thought.

Don't forget you can opt out of interest based ads. Google brought then in to appeal to visitors that inadvertently land on a (yours) website, as Google realized many people browse randomly on the internet, and their browsing habits/search terms are targeted to "interest" based ads on web sites/blogs that have interest ads activated.

My computer blog actually had a few skin care/soap ads a few times (after my teenage daughters browsed the web then to my blog) - I don't care anymore - as those brands (e.g. Lux) would pay higher (i.e. cpc) than many "no name" company computer related ads.
