Hello, Blog comments lose their importance if they are not on relevant niche blogs. Then they are not effective in terms of marketing and promotion. You need to select pertinent do follow blogs. So you need to search for keywords in search engines. When this search is done, you get links. These links describe the keyword topics. This will enable you to comment and indulge in discussions with fellow bloggers. The key is to select a relevant blog. It is a sure shot way to increase the number of free backlinks for your site. Do you all agree with me?

yes of course, you want to comment on blogs that are in the same niche as your blog or website.

Agreed. There's no point in hoping that food fanatics from one blog will be interested in reading about software development in another. There will be a select view with varied interests - but it's not effective advertising and it will most likely waste your time (assuming you're only there for advertising reasons).

To quickly find high pr blogs/sites I use advanced google operators (e.g. site:.org "my keywords placed here" “no comments” +blogroll -”posting closed” -”you must be logged in” -”comments are closed”) and SEO for Firefox. I describe this in a thread at the SEO section

I don't totally agree. You have to know your niche. My niche is coffee. There are four or five active coffee blogs that I comment on because I enjoy it. Other participants find me through my comments - they be no follow links in my name, but it helps my traffic for sure. Know your niche, and be a part of your community: Twitter, other bloggers who have the same or closely related niche - those are your possible friends, even facebook ... Know your niche and community.

Relevant blogs, yes, but I've always had strong doubts about the dofollow thing. A blog that's "endorsing" every single person that shows up and comments, no matter how relevant or irrelevant, good or bad, their comment is, probably doesn't carry much weight with its endorsement - and _shouldn't_ carry that much weight. Despamming comments might help a little, but I doubt it helps that much I'd rather comment on the high-quality blogs in my niche, the ones that are building community. I've often been rewarded for this by having my blog added to that blog's _blogroll_, which is an endorsement that has value, and that I'm grateful for. |
