There is something so empty about having zero comments on your post. Even if your blog is the best, new visitors will be turned off my zero comments. So.....if you are starting off and are still building your readership, do NOT enable your comments until you have atleast 100 RSS subscribers or 750 visitors a day, then you should switch your comments back "on" so others can see them.

Oh, I strongly disagree. The best blogs are at least partly communicating and interacting with an audience, and creating a community. And comments are essential for that.

Yeah, so weird freedombreather, I heard that too, and switched off my comments, but then a day later I switched them back on, because I thought it would be better to gain readership if they were on.

I strongly disagree as well. Furthermore, I absolutely assure you, if you do it right, you can create a "small community". I don't want to write a book-length answer, but I am very sure you can get many comments and be at only, say, 300 uniques per day, not the 750 unique visitors a day as you suggest.
