Time is money, people say "commenting is a great way to get traffic" yeah it isN (sorta but not really unless it's a massive blog) but if you factor the time in... Also who is commenting? Real readers or other bloggers looking to get traffic from you?

Just throwing it out there, I comment when I want to but DO NOT comment for the sake of traffic, it's a myth and a waste of time and makes you look like you have no life

I've got my blog listed but I wouldn't ever pay for a sponsored listing. You might get some traffic, I just don't think it's worth the money.

on principal, I would never pay for traffic/search ranking. I didn't really dig into blogcatalog but it seems to be just like every other blog directory. They thrive on bloggers submitting their blog to it, but in reality you don't get much traffic after you spend the time to submit your blog. You have to think: would someone looking for your content go to blogcatalog to find it? I highly doubt it. More people would be searching google's blog search.
