i was approached by a local mini mexican food chain regarding buying advertising on my blog. I don't really know how much to charge. I currently don't make that much from adsense. my blog avg's about 500-600 visitors a day which is down from the 1300 i averaged before i took a hiatus. So the potential is there to get back to my old #'s or more if i keep posting regularly . anyway..,,my blog is a food blog which is a niche but its also a blog that focuses solely on tacos within los angeles which is another niche. So i know that if i play my cards right there are some possibilities to make money through advertising. my friend says I should sell premium ad space for $200 a month. I think that may be too much and am thinking offering $100 to $150 a month |

Unfortunately you have to be realistic Banner ads space sells at about $5 a thousand impressions - even less if they buy large quantities at a time You could use your average monthly google eCPM and charge that - so if you earn $6 eCPM, then that's what you charge for banner space Selling per 1,000 views is fairer to the ad buyer, as they know what they're getting for their money - such as 0.6 cents per view |

That's what I charge on my high traffic financial investing blog for pre-paid orders for 100,000 banner impressions ($500) but I drop the price for bigger orders Whether you can get that for fast food banners, I don't know - I suspect not - generic ads pay a lot less - not sure where you stand with food ads - is it targeted or generic? Don't forget to factor in the cost of buying in a professionally designed banner |

I'd have to agree with you. $200 right off the bat seems a little steep, but I like your $150 range better. You don't want to scare them off.

Well, if your blog has quality traffic and you believe its targeted then a business will make money from it -- and theyll pay for it again. You could test the waters, and so what if you lose out on 5, 20, or 50 bucks? If you just get the ball rolling and then have to raise your price later a business WILL pay for it -- if it makes them money. |

What Stephen said sounds about right. Which means if you were still up at your 1300, then maybe the $150 a month would be about right, but like he said, I'm not sure you'd really get that for a very niche food site. Are you looking to target the taco places in Los Angeles and get them to advertise on your site? Maybe they'd be willing to pay that much or maybe not. All you can do is try it out really. You might want to put some more effort into getting your traffic back up some before quoting higher prices, though.
