Ca you succeed just by content creation? I usually make a post once every 2 days. I'm starting to get searches, but not many, and apparently only in the weekend. So my question is: will my traffic grow exponentially to the number of posts I make?

It really depends on how competitive your "niche" is. If it's a really widely-blogged topic, then you will have a harder time getting people to your site from search engines because there are so many other sites at the top of the results.

But I encourage you to add as much good content as you can and add it steadily. New original content will never get you less traffic Eventually some word of mouth should help you get steady visitors.

Thanks for your response. My niche is music. But I don't talk about music in general; I review artists, indie artists which are not that popular commercially. The searches I get are for these particular artists. So I don't expect to be on top results page for Coldplay, but I get search results for Animal Collective.

We'll see how it goes.

@playeru - I've always operated under the theory, if you build it they will come. But that it takes a long time.

Last night I was doing some google searches to try and figure out if anyone has ever analyzed how long it takes to get significant traffic to a blog just posting original content. I can't find it now but one site suggested that maintaining over 3 new posts per month for 500 days was about how long it takes. Basically it seems as though that the first 6 months of blogging are only building your foundation, and you just have to keep at it, consistently, long term.

Of course, the other question is how many absolutely unique visitors you need to your site for you to feel emotionally it is a success. Only you know that, and that number is going to vary from person to person.

two part formula -
Post great content, that when people do find it they will link to it
Trade links with via your blog roll with relevant sites.
one of many examples I can share is:
My wife's shoe blog does this and this alone and she sees 70k visits a month.
The blog has been live for a year and 3 months

I've found that my use of keywords in the titles of my posts have had a very positive effect. If your post is about a specific subject, try and think of a title resembles a phrase that people looking to read about your topic might type into google.

I use Wordpress and the All in One SEO Pack plugin.... which helps optimize each post I write.

No I don't believe in this theory. I have seen big sites, good sites go nowhere. You have to work as hard on your marketing plan as you do your content.

Don't only focus on creating content. Of course content is really important but you need also need to focus on getting traffic.
Commenting is the best way to drive traffic to your blog, at least for me. If you post genuine and interesting comments people will definitely check out your blog.
