Default Breaking through the 100 unique visitors/day mark...

Seem to be having an issue getting to this watermark of visitors... not really sure where I can go from here but I would really appreciate any solid advice from people who have this experience. IE: Only respond if you have a blog with 100+ visitors per day

Things I believe I've already done....

1) Made the site look very nice
2) Made it obvious what the site is about
3) Made the layout intuitive
4) Made the content very high quality.
5) Posted comments on other blogs in niche.
6) Signed up to various directories and links services
7) Fully indexed by google and some other search engines
8) Posted on forums with link in signature
9) Signed up to RSS directories
10) Tried blogexplosion and entrecard
11) Submitted own articles to social bookmarking websites.

WHERE can I go from here?

My blog right now is averaging anywhere from 250 to 300 unique visitors a day. There are some highs and lows, but that's about what it averages.

Your suggestions 6 through 11, I never did and still don't do.

Here's what I've done, and it seems to be working:

(1) My blog is about content. Every post has to be something unique and interesting. (2) The niche is obvious - If you don't like Starbucks, you know my blog isn't for you - on top of that, thankfully, I've got a topic that is well-known to millions of people. (3) I have heavily participated on active blogs in the same niche and that definitely has helped. (4) I've promoted my blog almost exclusively through Twitter. Now, I didn't start Twittering for that reason, and had been twitter for months and months, connecting with other coffee fans first. Then I started blogging and discovered I had at least a few people who would come to the blog who were twitterers.

But my site traffic mostly went up when I started getting a few mentions here and there on other very high-trafficked sites. It's helped considerably that on 3 occasions, Melissa Allison of the Seattle Times has linked to when writing for the Seattle Times' Coffee City blog, and once CNN linked to me, and once my main competitor blog ("starbucks gossip" - a friendly competition for sure) linked to me. I've also been linked to by several serious bloggers who have active blogs, like the dailyshotofcoffeeblog, and BrandAutopsy blog written by an ex-Starbucks employee.

But the bottom line is, and I really mean this, I did not know what SEO and PR were when I started, and I wasn't aware of what my pagerank was before it was a "4". I genuinely kept trying very hard to come up with good content. And I still don't know if is a short-lived experiment. I might run out of content soon!

Melody's advice sounds great. (Am I allowed to say that?)

Most people who would be visiting your blog are not bloggers with 100+ visitors a day, so you might want to consider widening the circle of people whose opinions you care about.

There's a difference between caring about someone's opinion, and asking a man who's never eat aligator what the best way to book it is.

I think you have highlighted something very interesting to me Melody.

I was focusing on quality content... but not necessarily content aimed to draw people in.. or add just a bit of flourish here and there. Most articles on my site are in-depth with quality information.

Perhaps a few intrigueing easy-reads here and there will gain a little more interest?

I'm going to give it a go, thanks for the input!

Ed:

Btw, incidentally I've had over 100 hits/day for the last three days, but mainly it's from traffic I'd consider kind of poor quality/not as revelevant as I'd like. Regardless - I've achieved something I was aiming for...

@SeanStewards - How long have you been blogging, and how long did it take to get to 100 unique visitors per day? Are you using Google Analytics? Just curious.
