Hey everyone, I just realized that you can get free links through stock image web sites. The web site I often use is stock.xchng and I sometimes comment on pictures because when using pictures you have to notify the author. Therefore on some pictures I post the link to my web site for the author to see where I put the picture. But just a few minutes ago I checked the source code to see whether these links were nofollow but they aren't. They only have the rel="external" attribute attached that means it helps to rank better on Google. Not that I am going to spam these web sites with my links .. just thought it would be interesting for everyone. What do you think about it?

I can see this working for photography related sites, maybe even webmaster sites - not sure of the value google will assign these links to other sites though - better than nothing, but maybe too "general" compared to targeted blog commenting |

And yes I do think that its not really valuable to people blogging on topics other than photography, as you have said. I just thought some people would be interested |
