The thing about links is that you might be getting them without realizing it. The "Statbrain" link I gave above is an eye-opener! Just keep working on having a great blog!

I have received back links from popular directories (e.g. blog and NZ search directories) by listing my blogs. Sometimes those blogs have ranked on 1st page of Google for certain keywords, displaying my blog's titles. Perhaps the disadvantage the directory listings often rank (and display) higher than the actual blog in the serps. Also visitors may navigate away from your blog within a directory. I also sent out email requests and recieved 2 ways links for similar theme blogs, but only a few hits from several emails. Also a forum request network for three way links set up, e.g. at Grizz's money blog to request others at the link exchange niche support page. I received a few 2 way links from that blog by requesting others for links.

Don’t rely on what type of link building. Directories are okay but they don’t really carry a lot of weight in google. Having a high quality blog that attracts natural links is always best but it is very difficult. Guest blog posting is effective, along with content exchange. |

Coffee City | Starbucks adopting pour-over brewing method, StarbucksMelody.com reports | Seattle Times Newspaper I apologize for using my own blog as an example, but I've had tons of links to it that were from very respected sources, and I believe it is because I am able to write really unique things about Starbucks that aren't found elsewhere on the web. Maybe not everyone can find a niche like that, but if you chase your passion and your knowledge in a blog, you'll be much better off than chasing some directory that google doesn't place much weight on.

Alexa Rank 5205755 Google Links 2 Yahoo Links 1223 Altavista Links 820 AllTheWeb Links 724 I don't understand why Google only shows me having 2 links (and it does the same when you search link:www.rightofanation.com on Google) but according to my Google Webmaster stats I have 240 links (and really more that I know of that it hasn't found yet). |
