I feel like the answer to everything is always "content". This morning I realized that a respected blogger ("Brand Autopsy" blog) had written a blog about mystarbucksidea.com and had linked to one of my blog posts within his blog post. I thought it was wonderful. I had no idea it would happen. It just happened because my content fits a certain niche: There aren't that many Starbucks blogs creating unique and interesting content. I do not want to sound boastful!! However, 99% of the questions that come up on this site as they relate to marketing, links, and traffic, only come down to one thing: CONTENT I have had this happen several times where people are writing about something and then they link to my blog.

But if I search Google with the link: method, it pulls up like 4. What's that all about? Does the link: search only pull up dofollows? I actually know that I have more dofollow links out there than those 4 though. |

And I guess the answer to that is to have good content AND just be patient. (?) |

"myblogname.blogspot.com" -site:myblogname.blogspot.com (There's no space between the dash and the "site:".) Just offering it in case that format helps. |

ChickenFreak & ScottK - I'm confused how it is possible to figure out how many links point in to a site??? I did a search of google for my domain name as suggested by ScottK and I get 18 pages of results, but some of it confuses my twitterings about StarbucksMelody with real results and there are even some bloggeries results mixed in. I found this weird site here - www.starbucksmelody.com web stats from Statbrain.com Apparently it does estimates of visitor traffic and pulls a number of google links, but that can't be right. I can't possibly have 1100 links pointing to me. And its traffic estimates are off. My site traffic is not that high!

I don't know how to filter out things like Twitter links either. When I search for my links, I get my profiles on various websites, twitter links, stuff like that. And come to think of it, I _don't_ get all of the really good, solid links from sites in my niche.

What are you experience with value of reciprocal links in terms of impact on own search rankings? Always been careful to provide outbound links to sites with lower pagerank. |
