I'm am curious about this. Most blog directories are free, this is not, so I am wondering what kind exposure would one get. Did anybody purchase a featured or a regular link? Was it worth it?

I have a paid listing. To be frank with you not much traffic gets referred. The benefit is the PR of having a link from the directory to your blog.

A featured link may give you more traffic over time. I'm not sure as I haven't tested it yet.

if you back to 5 years ago, I think it will give you direct traffic impact as well search result visibility, but today, I doubt about that, unless your directory is Yahoo directory

What about other paid advertising? I'm impacient, I want to get my blog really started. I am ready to invest if it will pay off.

I think the money is better invested in other things. Blog are of course useful but you would have to sign up for a lot of them to get traffic to your blog.
Actually at the beginning when I started my blog I did sign up for a lot of blog directories. And it quite frankly got me a PR3 but how is that helpful? Pagerank is useless, it doesn't really say anything. Now I have a PR0 and I have more backlinks and traffic then before.

I think it's sometimes better to invest in books or ebooks than in blog directories

PR0 means PageRank 0. Do you know PageRank? Basicially it's a measure from Google to see how well connected a web site is. PageRank starts at 0 and goes up to 10, 0 being the lowest.

Ok, I now understand. So how did you get the traffic then? I have no traffic currently, just a week or so into my blog. I do make a post daily. So now I'm signing to Blog Directories, and also started to participate on discussions in other blogs related to my subject. We'll see how it goes.
