Post Getting People To Opt-In To Your List

If you want people to opt-in to your list, you must provide something free, such as, "5 Killer Tips To Make Money With Blogs FREE" report.

Your opt-in list should be above the fold, and either on the left or right column on your blog. If it is all the way in the bottom somewhere, you will rarely find people opting in to your list. Make sure it is easy to spot, and make sure your free offer is extremely valuable. That will give people more reason to opt-in.

Free offers are always a way to draw people in. In fact it has become quite popular to create free ebooks for your followers.

Are you using freebies to get people to sign up?

People will subscribe to your blog if you offer them something meaningful in content. You don't need freebies to get people to subscribe. True have your feedburner link in a highly visible location.

But tricks won't do anything for you in the long run. And blogging is not a get rich scheme. If I saw anything that said, "5 Killer Tips To Make Money With Blogs FREE" I'd click away very fast. All that is a gimmick. Maybe some Nigerian prince wants to transfer money to your bank account too.

Certainly true with the making money. It's a niche with so much of the information repeated elsewhere anyway, and it's effectively blogging about blogging - which is fair enough.

But I can certainly see an e-book on... the history of Microsoft, being interesting for the technology niche.

I'd pause here to consider why you want them to "opt in" in the first place. Is this an email list? If you're giving them something to pay them back for tolerating email spam that they will then ignore... what have you won? (As a separate issue, I also agree that I'd be annoyed, not pleased, to be presented with "5 Killer Tips To Make Money With Blogs FREE".)

I think usually people generally do not give a second thought to "Free" things, even if they do not care about the download, they are there because it is free... that's why people will optin to people's list. Sometimes the title attracts the readers a little bit and if you have very colorful and unique ebook image or product covers, the word "Free" will give it a different twist.

I tell people that the newsletter will give them information they want. Then I write new and different things for it. I also include links to sites I like that have good information on them.

I put the signup on the upper right on my blog. I think people notice it more there. I do think offering free things might help too, like a free article or e-book.

I know I enjoy reading ebooks, and I often sign up for the free information pdf files. Even if they want my money at the end of the book, I can find a lot of good advice on the way.
