What Kind of Marketing Technique Do You Use in Order to Attract Visitors?

Interesting stuff. I'm currently using Youtube and Wordpress for my new company...

The blog is posting samples daily of the product we offer, to not give too much away for free but enough to generate interest. Our product is a daily self help service for mobile phones, so it's almost like a scaled down, simplified (and obviously not as effective) way of using the product if you read the blog daily.

I am also doing a video diary on Youtube of me myself following the service and doing it myself and posting my findings. Anyone can throw spam after spam TWEET BUY THIS TWEET BUY THAT nonsense every 5 minutes, but even if your product is of interest to the person you're posting to so many companies are doing it they just don't care. I feel my blog is a great way to network with clients.

We have Twitter and Facebook posting out links to all the posts, we also use it for office updates as people want to follow people, not a business generating machine.

I also try and make sure every message or post someone leaves us is acknowledged. People have more time for someone who pays attention to you. A member of my staff who regularly uses Twitter has his favourite band often tweet him, just from the amount he plugged them, and he's chuffed about it. Recognition is great for the soul.

Interesting ideas I really have to say that. In fact I never really believed in social media but thanks to you guys I am going to start using social media again but this time differently.
I am not going to simply promote my content. I want to build relationships with other Internet marketers.

I use combination of PPV and twitter, I bough twitter adder couple days ago , I applied it and I update my twit status update, some people response on my twit and that is good feeling when you we can communicate with our visitor

What is PPV? Does it stand for Pay Per View? How many followers do you have in your Twitter account to get some traffic?
Yeah it definitely is good to communicate with visitors and other Internet marketers.

So far I've used stumbleupon and writing comments, it has worked quite good. Get a stats plugin and see where they're coming from, then do more of what works and stop doing what doesn't work.

@newsblugger - Have you been able to get a lot of people to visit your blog through StumbleUpon? Commenting is a great strategy if you use it efficiently.
You should definitely try out what works for you and stop doing the stuff that doesnt. I only recently realized that there are a number of ways to grow your blog, commenting is one of them.

I get a ton of traffic from twitter. It accounts for 90% of the comments, and 20% of the 300 people a day who visit my blog. BUT twitter is a place to connect with others who have similar interests. I was twittering long before I was blogging. I was meeting and talking to other coffee-fans long before I started blogging. I was commenting on their blogs (because I was genuinely interested in coffee) long before I used twitter to promote my blog.

If you use twitter to create spam, it's not effective. If you think of it as a place to have real connections with others ... slowly ... you're heading in the right direction. If you push out links, and get a lot of spam followers, you haven't done anything to help yourself.

I created created and embedded a Google map in my Hotel blog. If you search for "Auckland" in Google maps (from NZ) it displays at the top as the no. 1 user created map, I got a fright that their were over 4,500 hits after 4 months. So reworked the map, adding references, doc's to download, links, etc to related blogs in the description and dialog boxes that pop up on the location markers. Has worked - attracted a little more searchers in a very competitive area...

cool idea. So it is paying off isnt it? Is that the only way you generate traffic to your blog?

@Melody - Ive tried to connect to people via Twitter too but I dont really get a lot of traffic at all. Ill simply keep trying :P
