| Would you like several backlinks to your site that get counted by Google? I did some research and found a list of sites with the Top Commentator plug-in. This plug-in is cool, because if it is set correctly, every single page on the site will provide a dofollow backlink to your blog as long as you stay on the Top Commentator list. Take my blog for example (If Dogs Could Read), currently if someone comments one time, they can be on the list and should get over 15 backlinks. (shameless plug, I know )Not bad for a few minutes worth of work, huh? However, there is catch, you need to actually read the articles and leave a worthwhile comment! A comment like "great article" will simply get caught by the spam filters and you'll get no link love. I also found the following list of blogs using Top Commentator. Thanks for the list, I have recently started using a widget for blogger that shows recent comments. I found that all out on accident when I had commented on someones blog with a similar "recent comment" section and noticed in webmaster tools that I gained a bunch of links from one comment...turns out that comment showed on every page of that website... |

work it slowly, those links show on every page of all those sites...if you land all those links overnight, google may think you are spamming links which could cost you... at least thats my understanding of it

| yes there is somebody like me who knows all the tricks can hijack all your comments and point them to my own site for obvious reasons I'm not going to tell how it's done - or say whether I've done it! |

hijack your comments? Interesting.... I think the most best way to get backlinks is writing direct to the blogger |

The Top Commentator widget for Wordpress is very well documented. It simply posts the top commentators on the site. It is up to the site owner to configure it to allow dofollow or nofollow as well as several other options. @QuirkyMomma There is no catch. I'm running the Top Commentator for two reasons. One, the self serving reason, is because I'm hoping this will improve my traffic and inspire more communication on my site from dog owners that happen to be bloggers. I have configured the tool to give bloggers the maximum number of backlinks by setting it to be dofollow from every page of the site. Two, I would like to be able to help others get more page rank. I, in turn, am looking for Top Commentator sites to try and improve my page rank. @janexus Yes, it works, I'm using the method myself to build backlinks. Its the same as leaving a comment anywhere else except you get "more bang for your buck" because you get credit for your link. I would like to encourage anyone to try it on my site (self serving, I know) If Dogs Could Read, wait a few days and see if they get the backlinks. On a site note, my wife just asked what I'm doing. I just her, "I'm commenting like a fool." Her response, "well that should be easy for you." : ) Chris |
