I just signed up for Twitter to, hopefully, help promote my blog. What is a good way to get followers who are interested in your topic/blog? I have very little blog traffic now and I keep hearing that this is a great way to market your blog. |

Twitter has its own guide - written for business users of Twitter, but helpful for bloggers and anyone else as well. Twitter 101 for Business ? A Special Guide is a terrific introduction if you're new to Twitter. Twitter Search is a good basic starting point to help you find conversations around particular topics: you just type in a keyword or two that might be used in talking about your topic, and see what comes up. Click on any username to go to their profile page, see their bio and the stream of their tweets, and get an idea if that's someone you might share an interest with. If so, you can reply to something they've said and strike up a conversation - same as you'd meet someone at a party or in the checkout line at the market. Or, if they're really interesting to you, you can choose to follow them and keep an eye on what they're tweeting. Often, following someone can be a good way to get their attention - but with all the spammers around, a lot of people don't take particular notice of someone just for that. Some people use things like Tweetlater to automatically follow people back, just to get numbers, but might never really pay attention to who you are or what you're blogging about, so talking to people directly is definitely the best way to start to make connections. Hope this helps!

That's actually simple on paper. Just search for things related to your niche, follow those users talking about them, have quality tweets and followers will come. Good luck! |

I've found that when I find someone to follow who is interested in my niche, many of the other people he or she follows are good to follow as well. You can spend WAY to much time following these trails, but most will follow back. And it's kinda fun. Lieka a 6th Degrees of separation kind of thing.

I'm still trying to get into the twitter world for my blog. It still confuses me with the @ and the #. But this is good information. Twitter seems like it can be an excellent tool to get traffic to your site.
