Is that they show you the most linked to websites. Not the most recent ones or even the most relevant (though they think they are). Most of the results are so outdated (2004 on one of them) that I nearly died laughing! ![]() All I want to do is find other blogs with similar topics to mine (local small business, free tourist attractions, poetry, local charities, product reviews and local groups) that doesn't already have a hundred link exchanges and so would be more likely to want to exchange links with me so that I can send them emails and ask for a link exchange. Does anyone know of better way to search for such blogs? I've found lots of link listings but each of them costs to join and so aren't an accurate view of the blogging world.

I agree, I always add the year to most of my information searches. Alternatively, you can have Google (for example) show things according to date.

I think that you should try Google Blog Search. It is usually weighted toward recent posts for the simple reason that it is most interested in up-to-date info.

You can also try searching blog networds like CMF ads and Entrecard. They have active, recent bloggers on there, though you may not find bucketloads. Easy to contact them too.

Yes, I know what you mean - I hate finding even 2 or 3 year old forum posts at the top of Google Google started all this high number of inbound links = good quality, therefore top ranking nonsense - they did it because the SEO's beat them and they had no other response to SEO trickery The SEO's won't be beat, and now have networks of 1,000's of blog sites they can use to rank any web site simply by using large numbers of backlinks from their blog network |

This is a pet peeve of mine as well, I usually use google to try and find new blogs that are related to mine. It is frustrating when you find a great blog but it hasn't been updated for the past two years!

| I have a feeling that Google is trying to find other ways of measuring a site's worth. Why else would they acquire Feedburner and mess around with other metrics. Perhaps in the future we will see extra value to sites that are updated frequently or that have a lot of subscribers.
