If you had $30 to advertise with- what would you do?

From what I believe google have an application called adwords that lists your site as a sponsored link. You choose a monthly budget, lowest possible being $30, which will get you listed but you won't be near the top unless you spend a higher budget and/or choose high paying keywords. You pay google each time someone clicks on your ad but you can choose a maximum price per click, it can be less than 10 pence if you like. It might be worth looking into.

Yes you are probably right, they'll just backlist you and now that i think about ive never seen any blogs as sponsored ads.

General comment: Adwords can be alright just if you have a low budget go for more obscure long term key searches. It will be ON TARGET and won't appear as much and will be cheaper so you can be a big player in a small pond instead of a minnow in the ocean...
