Default Taking my site to the next level

I launched a video production blog almost two months ago featuring videos that I have seen on the net and my own videos I have created. I have about 3500 views in my first two months. I am using facebook, youtube, and forums to promote my site. I have submitted them to search engines. I have SEO on Wordpress...not sure if I am using it correctly.

I am getting my logo/banner worked on to make it more professional.

I am also planning to make business cards/flyers to get the local market. Some of the videos I make are for my hometown sports teams.

Besides making more videos and the stuff I listed previously. What can I do to go from 50 views a day to 500-1000k. I would also like to get more clicks.

Check my website out www.callatonic.com - Callatonic Productions

I don't want to sound too negative - but you should start again with a new blog site

I took a quick look and found the following:
stuff that can be changed:
1/ theme with navigation columns on right hand site (you want "content" on the left for SEO reasons)

2/ set "Sports Videos" as blog title not "Callatonic Productions" - your blog description can then expand on this by setting it to "Free Sports Videos" or "Latest Sports Videos" or even adding a keyword phrase in there

3/ post pages I checked have no keywords in the keywords metatag

However there are serious problems that can't be fixed:
1/ domain name does not contain target keywords such as sportsvideos.com or sports-videos.com

2/ permalinks not set for SEO e.g. callatonic.com/?p=390 - should be something like www.callatonic.com/123/Demar-Derozan-Highlights/

the tragedy is I could have set all this up correctly right from the start for $47 dollars

Well for one there is absolutely no way I am changing the domain main. I am hoping to evolve my site from a sports video blog site to video production company called "Callatonic Productions" over time.

Post pages you have checked have no meta tags...what does that mean??

Why does the column on the left side help for SEO reasons??

I can change the permalinks.

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

1/ too late to change doamin name now - ranking a site or blog without having keywords in domain name is 10 percent harder than if keywords are in domain name - and before you ask why, its been tested by SEO's and proven

2/ keyword metatags are visible if you view source code - best to have your keywords in the tag e.g. "demar derozan video highlights" - SEO plugin should insert the keywords

3/ search engine bots read the page code - and the left hand stuff comes before right hand stuff - and you want your "content" read first - also the bots may stop reading code after a set number of characters - and you risk not having your page content read and indexed, only the header and navigation content - that's why content should be on the left

4/ you can change permalinks - but what happens to your existing posts - good chance they'll be lost - permalinks are the first thing you must set when you set up a blog

note: even if you change the blog over to a video production site you still have an uphill struggle with "callatonic.com" - site owners with domains such as "videoproductions.com" video-productions.com" etc. are going to have a much easier task in getting top search engine rankings

Hey Stephen...I changed the permalinks and everything seems to be fine.

I have been using SEO for all my major posts and it seems like my videos are being watched more. I am not getting any spikes in total views but my overall video posts that were watched are going up.

You're braver than me - I wouldn't have dared change the permalinks on an existing blog site!

great that it worked and views are going up

effect will become obvious on new posts - old posts may start ranking, but no guarantee

I see you sorted out the keywords metatag content - I ran a check on Cheyenne Woods | Callatonic Productions and title scored 100 percent, description scored 100 percent, keywords scored 80 percent - pretty damn good overall

don't get too excited though - home page title scored 100 percent, description scored 50 percent, keywords scored 55 percent - so still some work to do - especially as the home page is the most important page of the site

category pages are even worse - title scored 100 percent but description and keywords are non-existant

still its a start!

Hey thanks for the pointers....I just started using SEO for my posts and now realize how much it helps.

Is there a way for me to improve the homepage score??

the homepage is tricky as it depends on the on page content - which probably changes every day

if you have a list of keywords you want your site to rank for - just keep using some in as many post titles and post excerpts as you can - that way you should always have keyword rich content on the home page - you may have to adjust how many posts you show on the home page for max effect

I like to really hammer home the primary keyword on the home page - example: Make Money
lots of categories with the keyword, lots of tags with the keyword, lots of latest posts with the keyword, long list of previous posts with keyword

you get the picture!

try and keep your posts tightly themed - that will help theme your site in google
