Default How has Summer affected your blog's traffic?

One thing that I have noticed is that as your blog traffic increases you start to notice major trends that weren't so obvious when you had low traffic.

Anyway, now that summer break has started I lost 70 visitors a day on my blog Inkweaver Review. Now I'm down from about 300 visitors a day to about 230 visitors a day.

In a way this makes sense, because my blog is primarily aimed at children and its theme is books. Kids don't like to read books; they would rather play video games, etc. So they only read books and look up books on the internet during the school year, when they are required to write book reports.

I already knew that much of my traffic on Inkweaver Review was educational related because I have a lot of visits from .edu addresses, both from kids looking up books in school computer labs, and from teachers using plagiarism detection software to discover that some kid ripped my "Critical Analysis of The Grapes of Wrath" off of Inkweaver Review and tried to pass it off as his own.

But now summer is upon us and this natural educational traffic base for my niche has decreased quite a bit.

So my question is: "How has summer affected your blog?" Does your niche perform better during the summer months? Do you get more traffic during the summer, or less traffic, like me?

Summer is an awful time for anything internet related. Blogging, AdSense, etc. Everyone is busy enjoying the weather or doing something other than reading my blog. I've lost about 20 viewers a day...

That is what I am interested in. Some blogs perform better during the summer, others perform worse. I think that it simply depends on your niche. Some niches will perform better when people are on vacation, but others will be ignored.

I've actually only really noticed the drop on weekends so far. I've never seen much difference in my traffic between weekdays and weekends, but the last few weekends, my traffic has dropped drastically. I suppose now my visitors really 'are' out doing things on their weekends off instead, haha.

Traffic is up by a full third or more. But my subject matter is geared more to summertime.

One interesting point i forgot. Traffic is up but comments are not. I am getting very less comments(bounce rate remains same!) Seems like although people visit, they are not in mood of commenting!

I'm hoping that maybe they're just taking advantage of the early weather rush and very soon, they'll want to close themselves back up in the air conditioner instead of being outside in the heat, hehe.

That's a good way of looking at. Hopefully we'll see all those folks back online in a couple more weeks.
