Default migrating from blogger to wordpress

I don't touch blogger - but if you are thinking of setting up a self-hosted wordpress blog site then I'd do it as soon as possible - before you have too many posts to copy and paste into your new wordpress blog installation

there may be software to do it automatically - but it's not my field and I don't know - but I do know your new wordpress blog should have "custom permalinks" set up before you start posting - the wordpress default settings are not up to the job of creating search friendly url's

Default long tail keywords

you're right - SEO's use a diabolical phrase "long tail"

simply means a search phrase of over 4 words

my site Make Money is now pulling in the long tail searchers - better (shorter) phrases will follow later as the site matures

just checked my stats for the past week and some good long tail phrases are pulling in visitors from google - my definition of good is that there are actually some adsense ads on the first page of google's search results

these two have a "full" set of 8 adsense ads on the first results page - which is very good

google.nz - how to make truck loads of cash
google.com - google work from home on fox

the stats also showed a hit from page #1 of google for my primary keyword make money today but that was for 31st May - not there now

I'm currently at around 21 posts, now. Not only that, I have 35 followers that are signed in through Blogger (and usually gain 1 to 3 a day). I'm thinking I'm pretty much stuck with Blogger, which I don't mind, as it's a lot easier for me to use.

Is it really all that bad?

you're a guest on their system - and they can throw you off at any time - and without any warning

I personally will not put effort into a blog site under those circumstances

it's your time and effort - so its your decision

you could start a separate blog site - you don't have to have just one!

Wow, really!? I think I joined because of another cat blog that I really enjoy. Now I'm regretting that.

you may never have a problem with google - but you should be aware of the risk

its no different with free hosted wordpress blogs either - you're at the mercy of both humans and software programs looking for abuse/suspected abuse of terms of service - and that may simply be something as simple as placing affiliate links or banners on your free blog

it must be about 8 years since I bothered with blogger blogs - as I said I won't take the risk anymore - but I still think they're OK as part of your own blog hub for SEO purposes - as long as you don't invest too much time into them - throw em up quick and don't get too mad if they get taken down

Smile traffic up a third in past week

so that means traffic has increased by about a third over the past week - not sure if its because of recent tweaks to the site or not

Default Re: Beat That!

Just wanted to chime in about the 'long-tail'. The phrase was originally used to describe the advantages of online vs. brick/mortar style selling. i.e. typical music store = a few thousand albums. Online (rhapsody or amazon) = millions of tracks. Even though the bottom 500,000 sell a lot less often then the top hits, they still sell and account for revenue not available to the brick/mortar style store.

The same is true for blogs, all the collective information on various blogs could not be housed in the largest bookstore or library, but is easily stored in digital format.
