Ok, I'm trying to build traffic to my blog. I started it about a year ago and, shortly after starting it, I kinda "left it hanging" for a few months but in the last two months have gotten back into the swing of things and am hoping to continue "going strong," so to speak, from now on. I want to get traffic back on my blog (I was just starting to get a nice flow of visitors when I got crazy busy and had to stop blogging for a while) and decided to try Google Adwords... I actually had a free promotional credit from them so I figured there was nothing to loose. The only thing is, I've had my Adwords account setup for a few days now and so far have only gotten about five visits to my site through it... that doesn't seem like very many hits to me! Does anyone know if that is normal? Do I need to mess with my keywords more? I feel like maybe I have something wrong since I'm not getting many actual clicks through the program and was hoping someone could comment on that for me. Also, any other suggestions that you veteran bloggers have about how I can build readership/gain traffic would be great... Thanks in advance!! |

AdWords isn't really worth it. If you have some free credits, use them, then cancel. Not too many people click on Google Ads, especially blogs, and the cost per click can be pretty high sometimes.

Yeah, I'm starting to see your point. I'll probably use up my free credits and cancel... I don't seem to be getting much out of it. Does anyone know of any other ad campaigns that might be better for blogs? I'm kinda new to this stuff so I don't really know where to start. |

adwords are best because of their wide network >> they covers around 80 % of total web exposure you can find adsense on most of the websites

If you target your advertising well, keep refining ads, ensure you watch your budget, keep your site sticky and focusing on a need so advertising helps attract long term visitors rather then lots of bounces you are on the right track

I don't really see a need to pay for hits to a blog, unless it converts like crazy! Hey, we use the same WP theme! (sorry, side thought) The only reason I see for a PPC campaign is if the ROI (return on investment) outweighs the cost. Of course you would need to take into account the 'lifetime value' of a reader, not just a once off conversion, because visitors should be fairly targeted. Are you using G analytics for stats?
