I think I'm 40/60 for writing/marketing. I am in the beginning stages of my blog so I am trying to get the word out as much as I can.

I work in the digital marketing industry so my purpose of blog writing might be different then yours. My goal for my blogs is to provide on topic relevant backlinks to my site. In addition the new content keeps the website fresh. To me any traffic I receive is bonus but I would say I spend roughly a couple of hours a week to promote the blog and maybe two hours to write a couple of posts for the week.

I have been doing mostly writing. I don't have time to write for two blogs and promote.

| Same here. Although I'm more like 50/50 at the moment.

At this very moment, I'm doing about 95% writing and maybe 5% indirect marketing. That will do almost a completely flip in the upcoming weeks as I release a new site. I'm working on getting more content created to have published later and then I can focus more on the marketing side.

Just to chime in, I would say I spend 30/70 on marketing/content development. I should focus more on content dev, but marketing is just so addicting Part of my marketing involves building backlinks, building relationships with others in my niches, posting to sites like digg/reddit, etc.As sites start to gain traction, you'll find you have to do less marketing to get traffic, as you get organic links to your site (assuming it's a quality site!) |
