HotSpots have been known as AdSense advertisements that blend in with the background of the web site and look link regular links instead of advertisements are usually much more effective than random advertisements with no color planning. Google has now released its data results which shows what regions of a web site are usually most successful in terms of click throughs. As you can see from the chart below, the top and left regions are the most popular areas to place your ads while the orange regions are also very good in terms of click through ratios, while the right region has a very low score. Got a post on hot spots somewhere in one of my blogs. But there is the addendeum that it does not always follow. May need to test things to find what works best on each blog or website

I saw that chart a long time ago. And as a result, I put my first ad just below the "Rea More" break. That way when someone clicks the read more link, on the next page they are looking straight at the banner. And then I put another banner at the bottom of the content. |

| I think it's fine to play around with ads with low traffic... it may be better to get some experience on what works for you while you will have few clicks, and then see how the evolution of your blog changes CTR and such as you gain traffic.
